School Field Trips
SBA is proud to support local schools and students by offering educational airport tours throughout the year! These approximately hour-long tours are limited and offered with advanced notice and are dependent on airport operations and staff availability. Tours of the fire station and the air traffic control tower are limited and must be booked separately.*
These visits provide students with a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the world of aviation. A visit to SBA gives students the opportunity to see firsthand how air travel works beyond the passenger experience and are designed to be engaging and educational. During a terminal tour, students learn about travel, daily airport operations, aviation safety, and the many career pathways available within the aviation industry, as well as the important role SBA plays in supporting the region and connecting the community to destinations across the globe.
Itineraries are customizable and can include:
- Tours of the Historic Terminal:
- Santa Barbara Airport history
- Archival photo exhibit
- Upstairs viewing platform of the airfield
- Tours of the main Terminal:
- Ticketing counters
- Baggage claim
- TSA checkpoint
- Terminal architecture/art
- Back patio/observation deck of the airfield
Santa Barbara Airport looks forward to welcoming students and helping inspire the next generation of aviation professionals through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
